OIL

“I’ve always loved oils…and little unknown things that I’ve never heard of. I always go for the unusual. I had used oils individually over the years—rosehip oil and calendula oil, arnica oil and argan oil, evening primrose oil for lashes—" Linda Rodin

Skin cells are held together by abundance of oils which support healthy lipid barrier, prevent dehydration and ensure the healthy glow. When oils are applied to the skin, they are absorbed directly into the top layers of the epidermis, where they instantly boost so important lipid barrier function.  Creams on the other hand are mostly waxes and water with just few oils thrown in. Waxes form an occlusive layer on the skin, which helps to hold moisture. There are two downsides to this: wax build up may lead to clogged pores and may also prevent the oil compounds of the cream from penetrating. Therefore compared to water, wax and synthetic fragrance-based products, natural oils deliver all of the benefits with none of the downside.
